So I am very new to this blogging thing. However, I'm constantly asked how I manage my life- three kids under four, a small apartment and so on. This is the main reason I started this blog. This week my older two are staying at my mother's house "Nanny's" and I am alone with the baby. What a treat. This is the first time in a long time that I was actually able to clean and organize and things actually stayed clean and organized.
I have started on a new feat this week: cloth diapering. Tuesday afternoon I visited the Happy Baby Company (the only retailer in the area who sells cloth diapers). I was thoroughly impressed with the store and the owner and was anxious to try out my new goodies. I already had 27 prefold diapers at home but needed some covers. I have ten pocket diapers and disposable liners (I'm not ready to scrape yet) to try in Monster when he gets back next week. The baby went through nine diapers yesterday (8am- 9pm) and I put on a disposable at night. I am using a detergent called "Rockin' Green which is specifically designed for cloth diapers and I will be line drying them this afternoon. I'm anxious to see how well it removes stains. I may resort to a cheaper alternative (Borax) if this doesn't do the job. We made the switch to cloth diapers for a couple of reasons one being the cost of disposables. Two is the amount of trash we threw out in a week, and three because I just wanted to see if I could do it. Today is day two and the baby has already soaked is second cover so I put a pocket diaper on him. We'll see how this goes.
